About Bridge Builder

Arithmetic drill disguised as a race against a walker who will not stop.

Bridge Builder turns times-tables practice into something with actual stakes. A character walks steadily to the right across an unfinished bridge. Every question you answer correctly lays down another segment in front of them. Answer fast enough and the bridge stays comfortably ahead; stall on a question and you watch the gap close. It is the same arithmetic a worksheet would give you, but a worksheet never made anyone hurry.

Three modes cover the ground where children usually get stuck. Addition focuses on carrying. Multiplication drills the tables. Missing Digit is the interesting one — it shows a completed sum with a single digit blanked out, in either operand or the answer, and asks what it must have been. That forces genuine reasoning about place value and carrying rather than the recall of a memorised fact.

The difficulty climbs as you go. Early on a question gives you nearly half a minute and the bridge is built in generous segments; by the later levels the segments are shorter and the walker is faster, leaving under twenty seconds. A full run is twenty minutes, and reaching 700 points — seventy correct answers — wins it.

How to play

  1. Choose addition, multiplication or missing-digit practice.
  2. Type the answer to the problem on screen. Each correct answer is worth 10 points and extends the bridge.
  3. Keep the bridge ahead of the walker. The further ahead you build, the more slack you have for a hard question.

Bridge Builder is free to use and runs entirely in your browser. See the other experiments on cffy.in.
